I have been online for nearly 7 years, and on forums for nearly 4 years, but I have never seen an Iraqi or North Korean guy, who knew English and would like to chat with me.

Why?

Maybe if I speak Arabic, I will find some Iraqi guys. But how is North Korean, they are so near to Chinese, and many can even speak Chinese, and I have met many South Korean, but I met no North Korean online. It is strange that in real life, I have met some North Korean, they are everywhere in China.

Cultural embargo to North Korea:

Everyone knows that Korea is from Corea, and in the japnese colonial period, Nippon changed its name to Japan, and edited Corea to Korea, so Japan would stand before Korea in alphabetic order.

Korea named itself 高丽 traditionally, but in modern times after Korean War, the country became two, one is People, the other is Republic, they named themselves as 朝鲜 and 韩国, but now in English community, when one tells about Korea, he will not add South or North, it all refers to the South Korea, while the North Korea is forgotten. And this phenomenon is expanding in China too, many young people are talking about 韩, Korean, but in fact, they exclude 朝鲜. Many Chinese love Korean style, but they hate poverty in North Korea. Is it a paradox?

I doubt if all websites including this site, designate Korea this name to single South Korea, I think so.
