This photo shows the menu of a typical restaurant from Ceará. The prices correspond to January 1999, and the restaurant is in Euzébio, in Fortaleza's end near my home again!

The main elements of cearense food are the meat (pork, chicken or ox ), the viscera of these animals, rice and beans, traditionally cooked together resulting in a dish called "Baião de Dois".

Below is a brief description of the most common dishes. If you are not used to exotic culinary experiences, this is your chance!

Sarapatel - Done with the viscera of pork (kidneys, liver, heart, blood and stomach).
Sarrabulho - Pork's renned blood.
Panelada: Dish made with the viscera of ox (casings, stomach, mocotó ). One of the favorite dishes.
Cabidela Chicken - Chicken cooked in its own blood.
Buchada - Mutton's stomach stuffed with viscera (kidneys, liver, heart, tripe).
Baião de dois - Beans and rice and milk cream.
Paçoca - Carne-de-sol (desfiada ) fried with flour.
Carne-de-sol - Salty and dry beef. They say that Caicó tipe is the best. I like it too... it's delicious inside a tapioca.
This is a tapioca, since in wikipedia's article there is none:
TAPIOCA

Yes, really meaty, but I don't like most of those meals... ugh! That's why I put "weird" in the title... hehe.

But they are really apreciated around here, specially tourists. You should try them.
