I have a very unusual question and I need an answer as soon as possible. When you read it, you will understand why it is so urgent.

Does anyone have any idea how to protect the orange peel from decay?

A few days ago I got a very unique gift from my boyfriend. He cut the orange into halves and cleaned one of them. The orange peel had a shape of hemisphere. He carved in it our names and pictures that symbolize important moments in our relationship. I was delighted!
The problem is that now my gift began to dry and I fear that it will decay completely.
A couple of silly ideas crossed my mind: to cover it with the wax, to varnish it ... But I'm afraid I'm not gonna achieve anything with that and I'm just gonna ruin it.
Does anyone have any suggestion?

Thanks Pia very much!
I think I'll try to let it dry out as Jenny H recommended. I hope I could still see the pictures he carved in it.

Right, that's probably a problem, to keep the "carved thing" in good shape! If I was you I think I should take a photo! There is another page here, different methods to dry them.

You're right! I should take s photo!

I read the articles and I decided to let it dry out. I'll try to use something sharp to keep "carved thing" visible as much as possible.

Thank you Pia once again for helping me with this!
You're so wonderful!

It's GREAT!

It shrank a little bit but I can see all the "carved things". And I think it's going to last a long long time...
