Evaluating one's own translation...

I'm asked to evaluate my own translation towards English. Isn't that a bit weird?

Why are you asked to evaluate translations at all? It doesn't say on your profile that you're an expert (although I think you should be!).

CocoT, you are talking about the votes about the meaning. Even if you vote "Good", it's not the final evaluation which is the expert role.

Feel free to vote for your own translations because it's still an indication for the expert. When voting for your own transaltions, it means that you took the time to come back on ucumis and confirm your translation. People who do so, are very often serious people that can be trusted by the experts.

As for becoming an expert, I've already talke with CocoT about this. Kafetzou, if you need help to evaluate english translattion, let us know and CocoT can become one (if he still want to be). Francky, same things for you and French.

I think CocoT is a fantastic translator, but he is not a native speaker of English. What worries me is that there are too many English "experts" on this site who are not native speakers. For example, a native speaker would say "translation into English", not "translation towards English" [see above]. And yes, I DO need help with evaluating translations, but I would prefer if it could be another native speaker (of English).
