LeinAntall Innlegg: 3389 | Hi Merdogan
I have set a poll as the English looks ok.
Is the last sentence connected to the one before? In the English translation it looks like the two are not connected in any way. If that is the case in the original too, fine; otherwise an explanation may be needed |

| Hi
"I also don’t trust the youth." should be I also don’t trust (my) youthfulness.
And for the last sentence, I suggest sth like that:
- (The ones) who die are always/all the time elderly people? |
| 14 Februar 2011 18:58 |
| Oupps, I have forgotten one thing.
I think the first sentence should be :
-I think about today.
What do you think merdogan and Lein? |
| 14 Februar 2011 19:04 |
LeinAntall Innlegg: 3389 | I'll leave that to merdogan
These suggestions seem to change the meaning so I don't know what would be best..
Thanks Bilge! |

|
I don't agree with Bilge.
in original there aren't (my) and "about". Somebody is speaking in general, not about himself.
The last sentence is connected to the all before. Somebody want to live today. He wants to say the young people can also die. |

| OK, I see. Lein, I suggest asking the other Turkish experts for help. For example we could ask minuet.
Hi minuet, could you please have a look at this text and our discussions. Thanks in advance

| Bugünü düşünürüm.
I think today.ile aynı anlamı taşımıyor. bugün düşünürüm anlamına geliyor. |
| 15 Februar 2011 22:26 |
| Evet ben de aynen bunu demek istemiştim zaten. Teşekkürler CC: reckless |

| Sayın Bilge,
Sizin gibi düşündükleri için her öneriyi hemen kabul etmeyin . Siz uzmansınız. Lütfen tecrübelere değer verin ve herkese sormayın. Siz karar verin.
Kabul etmeyenin önerisini isteyin. |
| 16 Februar 2011 10:18 |
| "I think of today" it should be, in my opinion.
And a suggestion for the last sentence: "Are they always the old people who die?" |
| 16 Februar 2011 20:17 |
| Sayın merdogan,
Evet haklısınız herkesin önerisini kabul etmemek lazım ama ben kişisel görüşümün de doğru olduğuna inanıyorum. Mesela bir insanı düşündüğümüzü söylerken "I think you" mu diyoruz? Duguit'in de belirttiği gibi "think of" ya da "think about" tarzı bir şey olmalı ki oradaki "belirtme hal eki"(-i)ni taşısın. Sizce de mantıklı değil mi bu? |
| 16 Februar 2011 22:37 |
| Türkçe düşünürsek haklısınız ama burada konu olan ingilizce. Lein'in ikaz etmesi gerekmez miydi? |

LeinAntall Innlegg: 3389 | Hi kafetzou
Lots of discussion here and without being able to read Turkish, I feel a bit useless. Would you mind taking care of this translation? Pretty please?
Thanks! CC: kafetzou |

| Ama Lein ne anladı biliyor musunuz?
Cümlenin "Bugün düşünürüm" şeklinde bir anlamı olduğunu. Ve gramer olarak yanlış olmadığından da düzeltme yapmadı.
Hi again Lein,
Sorry for speaking Turkish. Could I ask you what you understand from the first sentence? It has a meaning like "I just care about today". So wouldn't it be "I think of/about today?" That's what we discuss. |
| 17 Februar 2011 18:52 |
| Dear Lein,
Forgive us.
Dear Bilge said what you understood from the first sentence. (Bilge knows you very well.) |
| 17 Februar 2011 22:43 |
| I'm going to edit this and accept it. |
| 17 Februar 2011 22:49 |
| Notes:
Bugünü düşünürüm = I think of today. If you say "I think today", it means "Bugün düşünürüm.
Gençlik = the young (the youth = (o) genç; youth = the abstract concept of "gençlik", not the people)
I had to fix the syntax of the the last sentence to make it correct in English.

| Thanks kafetzou!
Dear merdogan,
I hope now you see your mistakes and the next time you will not insist on things that you are not sure about.
Have a nice evening

| Dear Bilge,
if you define it what we are doing hier as "mistakes", you don't understand what we are trying to do here. |
