Results 1 - 5 of about 5 | | | 12 September 2007 01:22 | | I am not muslim personally, but I was told by muslim friends that from this Thursday, there will be the 11th month of Islamic calendar, that is called Sultani month.
People will not do anything during daytimes, including having foods or work. But they can do anything during nighttime.
So Happy Ramazan too all muslims and non-muslims.
I doubt how this works since we have different time zones | | 12 September 2007 10:44 | | No No No !!!
It is true that starting of Thursday, September 13th, 2007, Ramadan begins. It is the 9th month of Islamic Calendar & there are no other specific names for it as I recall, only descriptions as the month of mercy & forgiveness.
People work during day times as usual, but some start a couple of hours later like schools (which will start from 9:30 a.m instead of 7 a.m & end at 3 p.m instead of 1 p.m), and some governmental agencies.
In Ramadan people will not eat, drink (smoking is included) or have physical intercourse during daytime, these are the things that Muslims shall not do from sunrise and during daytime... but from sunset they can do what ever they want..
As for different time zones, every region sets its own colander and fasts according to its own time
Thanks
| | 12 September 2007 10:51 | | I must have confused myself!
Maybe it should be 11th day of the 9th month of Islamic Calendar? That is fun, you know the American attackes 9-11 Are they related?
But different calendars.
I will practice ramadan too, even if I am not muslim. It is like a game worth playing. | | 12 September 2007 11:28 | | Ramadan is not, by any means, related to the attacks of 9-11, & if you noticed any of the Muslims reactions that time you will notice how horrible it was, because it was a bigger slap to the political & economic status in the Middle East since that our is some how attached directly to theirs. ( I'm not mentioning here the numbers of Muslims who got killed too at that day).
The main point of Fasting Ramadan is to remember the very poor ones, who don't have food or shelter, and at the of Ramadan before Eid's prayer every Muslim shall give to really poor people (a specified weight to all givers per person like in my home we are four, so dad must give that specified amount x4) of one of the local production of Poaceae like rice or barley.
I really hope you enjoy practicing Ramadan as we do ..
Thanks

During Ramadan, people are expected to fast not for torturing themselves but for knowing what hunger and hardship is to have mercy, understanding and tolarance for those who have no food or money.
So,PLUIEPOCO, if we saw Ramadan as a game, we would label ourselves as 'Robin Hood' but this Robin steals from not somebody else but himself and gives to poor ones
As far as I am concerned, the very reason of it is just linking the hearts between people from the richest and the poorest ones who may not have any single common point of view.
By the way, another good part of Ramadan is date(a sweet fruit) for me. I love it very much!!
Ramadan is a great chance for everyone to be purified from any sin in terms of both thoughts and behaviours and cannot be related to 9-11 attack by no means! Well, get pleasure out of Ramadan!
