This was a promising website where I hoped we could in a serious matter help each other with needed translations, but the only use of it seems to be 12 year old girls who speak with their 11 year old boyfriends over MSN. I definitely have better things to do with my time. So I will not do any more "translations" and I hope you make it clear in the front page that people might want to use this as a tool. A SERIOUS LANGUAGE TOOL. I will keep checking the website but untill it gets a serious tone. Hopefully people will stop abusing it for ridiculous translations and I will come back and do my part.

jp, we can't command the translations people need, but I think a couple of things would increase the quality of Cucumis community work:

1) To forbid completely even transliteration of people names. This is not true translation, so I think it's not our cup of tea, not to mention the waste of time.

2) To start to refuse translation requests when the original text language and the requester main language match, and the original text is not written correctly (lack of diacritics, SMS style, etc.). I know, it's somewhat hard to control this. I thought maybe a warning (popup?). We need to suppose that one knows properly at least your native language.

Yep this is an option. I admint I am bored myself with name translations. For you other suggestion, I'm not sure because that helps a lot some people who received a message they don't understand and no machine translation will help them. Only a system like cucumis can do the job. So I'm not suer it's a good idea to remove this kind of requests.

Yeah, but when I get requests of translations in Faroese of names like Jennifer Gomes Arnejo, you can not imagine how irritating it can be. Try to translate this in any language and it will be at least difficult if not impossible.

Besides, there are not only 12 yo, as you implied ele.lundell. I've passed long time ago this age, the same for many of the experts or users and I don't believe I have evaluated only this kind of texts. There is no need to be disdainful regarding the work (voluntary if you have not observed yet) of so many people, who are not guilty that a 12 óld Romanian wants to know what means the sms send by a potential boyfriend from Italia, for example. If you look a little more deep inside the translations, you will see there were article submitted for translations, even poetry or tehnic texts, so...
