Take care of your tattooing!Learn
Results 1 - 10 of about 10 | | | 14 October 2007 02:00 | | Foreigners like tattooing, and they like difficult scripts, like indi, Chinese or so.
But Take care, in China, tattooing is forbidden, for example, if you are tattooed, you are not allowed to public services, armies or so.
You may ask why, but tattooing is a traditional torture to record one's sin and guilt. Familiar? yes, in history, smuggled african negros were branded on their bodies to show they are slaves, that's similiar.
People tattooed are recognized as the sinned or guilted.
And in underground society, tattooing is a sign of gangsters, they have their mark on their organization. Like a republic's banner or flag.

I have to admit I´m not really fond of tattoos either, although I don´t find them a sign of guilt, but of course that comes from my culture, so I can totally understand your point, too.
What I find funny about Hanzi tatoos is that sometimes they are ugly, as the maker can´t write Chinese and the other one is that it can be very embarassing to wear a wrong symbol on your body for a lifetime...
Hm, I was wondering whether you have seen the Pepsi commercial where some youngsters have some cool symbols tatooed on their arms, and they walk away with it proudly and then we can see the old tatoo maker guy (who´s Chinese) looking at the menu of the Chinese restaurant from where he took the tatoos... I think that was very funny and very true indeed!

You are totally right, I am not fond of tattoos either..
1 thing I didn't know, and that quite shocked me, is that tattoos are forbidden in China..
Same thing with Youtube (?). In one of the many messages of you, I refer to you Pluiepoco, I've heard that Chinese government has forbidden the access on this site! I don't understand this, what can possibly be wrong about youtube?
But well, back to the tattoos. In some cultures tattoos are just a part of their lives.
For Example the Maoris in New Zealand, or other ancient tribes..
What you've said about the 'gangsters', here in Belgium some people are just treated as a gangster because they have tattoos. Somethimes, people with tattoos can find hardly work because they cannot hide their tattoo!
I think that is a bit too to drastic, it's still your body!
Pluiepoco, are piercings forbidden too in China?
| | 31 October 2007 08:04 | CisaNumber of messages: 765 | Wow, I haven´t even thought about piercings, good quiestion!
Yeah, the quiestion of tattoos differs in many cultures. I personally don´t like them, especially if somebody is full of tatoos, with monsters, devils, women etc. I think it´s just simpy ugly, yuk!!
I´m also surprised Youtube is blocked, there´s so much nice Chinese stuff on it, I´ve even found the Phantom of the Opera in Mandarin! (And it´s just beautifuuuuul! ) | | 1 November 2007 02:37 | | | | 2 November 2007 13:00 | | Tattoos aren't forbidden at all in China, Pluiepoco.. | | 2 November 2007 16:15 | | And one more piece of the "fix ideas" philosophy belonging to pluiepoco. | | 2 November 2007 16:47 | CisaNumber of messages: 765 | Iepurica, I agree.
