goncinNumber of messages: 3706 | I think it can be useful if we know each other's professions and specialised technical skills.
This way, we can ask the right person for help in case of specific translations.
So, there goes mine:
- I'm a system analist by profession, so I can help with IT related stuff.
- I'm also a Law alumnus (Civil Law mode) - for legal concerns related.
- I worked once at a tannery, so I know something concerning leatherware and related chemicals. |

| So, in order to keep goncin's structure, here it goes:
- I am mechanical engineer specialized in Oil Equipment for Refineries and Petrochemistry, but I have a master that extends this to Drilling and Extraction Equipment too.
- Now I work with civil installations (ventilation, heat, sewerage and so on).
- I also have a diploma in electronics (from high-school), I m not terribly good at that, but I have a little bit of idea.

| Rodrigues, just a curiosity. Where have you found a correspondence course for engineering? What university? My husband tries to complete his studies (he has a diploma which is the equivalent of marine engineers, but in Faroe Islands they don't have assigned yet BS, even it takes the same). In Denmark he correspondence courses does not exist and we did not know where to look... |

I studied two years of Law, so I know some basics of the Legal Science
I have worked as a French teacher and as a French-Spanish translator, both for short periods of time.
I used to survive as a temporary waiter in bars and restaurants
Currently I work in a French insurance company where I deal with customers and suppliers on the phone in order to solve eventualities. I have to be fast with French, Portuguese, and sometimes English. And I have to change my linguistic microchip again and again. But I'm happy to be paid to do something I like. |

| I am a scientist (biology, informatics); I like translating texts about science, medicine, plant and animal husbandry, anything to do with horses or children, technology (within my knowledge), food, and the tangible arts.
I have lived for brief periods in several foreign countries, and in many parts of the United States.
Wikipedia is a great asset for translators; you can use "interwiki" links to read about one topic in more than one language.

| I have been a translator (E&C) since graduation (BA in Economics, major in Statistics) in 2004, firstly in companies and now am freelancing substantially on Finance and Laws.
I know very little compared to many of your, but I am sure I want to know more about languages and learn from you. In my present plan, I will do nothing except translation. |

| As I'm still a little boy , I do say I am not particularly skilled in any field yet.
I'm attending a sort of "Gymnasium" (in Italian Liceo Classico), that makes me a little bit skilled in Latin, Italian and Ancient Greek literatures.
I'm also familiar with agricultural terms and country life, since I have been raised in the countryside and my ancestors, as far as I know, were all farmers.
