Submit a new text to be translated...

I see that some members submit a new text for example... in German. Then I notice that the submitter of the text wants to see it translated to the same language(in this case German) as it's written in... Check always your target language when you submit your text!

I also see that new texts for website translation don't need to translated to Dutch, but it isn't already done. Why is this???

Answer to your first message: if you are not german native, you can submit a german text that you want to be corrected by a native german speaker. I'm not sure it's the case for this translation because the submiter is new and don't know all the details of the system, but it's allowed.

Answer to your second message:
The dutch translations which are not asked for the cucumis.org user interface are those which has been translated offline by Aleid. In fact, they are already translated, you can see it if you go to the dutch html page where the text is shown.

when I ask for a new translation to be done, I can choose the "expert translation" by clicking the check box. the label is:
"When requesting high quality translations, they are only made by experts but cost twice the amount of points."

I suggest to add:
"Remember that we have thousands of users and only few experts, so an expert translation could request a bigger amount of time to be done"
...or something similar.

I see lots of expert translations waiting to be done; some of them are very easy and perhaps there are some users who could translate them and would translate them, but they cannot!
that's a pity...
so I suggest to "discourage" requesting expert translations.

You right that's a problem. I suggest another thing, we don't allow anymore to check the the "expert translation" flag. I realize that it is not very useful, what do you think?
Or maybe we don't allow it for newbies?

I actually think that the "expert translation choice" is not very useful.

I didn't talk about it in my previous message, as I though: "if jp have decided to do this way, he should have his good reasons".
but if you are not so sure about it... well... you can decide to cancel it...

ok i've done something, it's not possible anymore to check the expert flag for newbies (a newbie is a member regsitered since less than 5 days). we'll try like this for a few weeks to see how it turns. I think we should not see many expert translations anymore and the remaining one wil done by people more aware of what they do.

This idea might work! Some users are only registered on Cucumis for only that one translation that needs to be translated. They only want to get the translation translated and don't want to help other users.....

But the idea is good! We will attract less members, but these are willing to help others!
