| How is it possible to look at this old cucumis, at all? Has the URL been different, or what is that "web-archive"?
It looks really cute! Still, I prefer the newer version |

| Apparently heaps of computers are making an archive by daily (re-)downloading each website, it must be a humongous archive!! |
| 21 July 2008 20:08 |
| It's probably Cucumis' backup files and database.
If you pay attention you can see the whole URL address by the end of the address bar. On the previous directory is written a number, composed by year (4 characters), month (2 characters), day (2 characters), hour (2 characters), minutes (2 characters) and seconds (2 characters).
For example if you have the following URL address: http://web.archive.org/web/20050820093915/www.cucumis.org/ and change the number "20050820093915" to "20070101010101" you will see website data updated in January 1st, 2007 (much more languages and users in 2007 than in 2005). |

| That's very interesting (I didn't know that before!) - thanks for the explanation! |
| 21 July 2008 21:48 |
| All very true what you're saying, Diego, but http://web.archive.org can be used for ALL sites ever made (well, that's what they purport :P), so it's not just a private ![](../images/wm_act1.png) database.
http://web.archive.org/web/19981202230410/http://www.google.com/
Google 10 years back ^^ |

| You're right Urunghai!
I could never imagine they were storing all of it.
To see any old version with old data of any website you just have to access http://www.archive.org and choose the website you want to check and then you choose one of the available dates. |

It was released in french/english and dutch. |

| Hehe, google was funny.
I remember I saw this link before, it's so good to see from the time we get here, and of course see all the differences...
We don't even realize how fast cucumis is growing. |
