I saw JP started a discussion on the "expert only" feature here.
I didn't want to wander too far off-topic under the translation so I'm replying here.

I think it is a good idea to remove the option.
All translations are checked by an expert anyway and if the experts of the target language don't understand the source language, the request would have waited until a non-expert would be allowed to do it. It was a nice idea to try when the website was first set up but I think there is no real advantage now.

Hello Lein! About "high quality required", I agree it can generate certain difficulties with some requests, for instance when the expert doesn't know the source-language.

But if I submit a translation request from an English text it is usually working faster with the evaluation/validation process, as there's no need to get through the poll before the translation is accepted.

This is the case with all the requests I use to submit for texts that are going to be used in my admin's job. About these texts, no doubt remotion of the "high quality" issue is going to delay this evaluation/validation process.

Just to show "high quality" issue doesn't delay at each time it is used. As if I requested it the regular way, I would have to wait for the result given by a poll and (sometimes endless) discussions, and no doubt the regular way of requesting a translation would be slower than the "high quality" one.
