I'm pissed off. Here's why...

I grew up in French and Japanese environments, and I consider these two as my native languages; so, for the profile of the first account I created I selected "other languages" instead of just one as my native languages. But then I couldn't possibly start translating things, since "newly registered users can only translate into their native language" and there's NO text requested for translation into "other languages". I was forced to create another account, which is the one I'm using right now. This time I set "French" as my native language. For the search settings, I put French, Japanese, and English for both "source language" and "target language". I get some results. But NONE of them are requested for French translations. If I try to work for an English text requested for Japanese translation, I get this message:
"You are not authorized to translate into this language (Japanese)."
And I've been stuck like this for the last several days. It seemed to me that I needed to accumulate some starter points, rather than simply wait, in order to get to work for these not-for-French-translation texts. So I decided to broaden the scope of my search and submit some French translations for texts in other languages which I have no problem deciphering with the aid of machine translation and dictionaries. Immediately afterward, I received a PM from Francky5591, warning me that, if I repeat one more time what I just did, my account will be deleted.

So, once again I'm forced to wait, stone-still forbidden to work for texts which I'm actually capable of translating but which this website is erroneously assuming I'm not.

I was excited when I discovered this website. Now I have lost my enthusiasm.

Hi mokimoki,
I'm sorry to hear you don't get on with this website! Do give it another go, as you are listing some problems a lot of first time users are running into. The delay was built in to dissuade not-so-serious would-be users. Tomorrow you will have been a user for three days and as far as I know, that is when the limitation of only being allowed to translate into your native language is lifted. (Am I right, admins?)This site has a lot of enthusiastic people who like languages, are keen to help others and love cucumis so please ask for help if anything is not clear.
We could really use your skills so I do hope you'll get to love this site yet!
best wishes,
Lein

Lein is right, it takes three days before the newcomer to be authorized to translate into other languages.

Then you'll be allowed to translate from and into other languages you may know, but I have to be sure about one thing :
You said : "So I decided to broaden the scope of my search and submit some French translations for texts in other languages which I have no problem deciphering with the aid of machine translation and dictionaries"

It is strictly forbidden to use automatic translation tools on , this is what the private message I sent you was about, and I'm just doing my janitor's job (only lilian canale and I are in charge with this role, fortunately not the only one we have here).

Users who've been translating from or into languages they do not know, using automatic translation tools, have been banned from the site. We are sharing our respective skills about languages we know, but we do not use automatic translation tools, except for checking whether a text is acceptable to translation according to our rules, which is an admin's job.

As Lein said, be patient, you'll be allowed to translate from and into French, English and Japanese, which makes three languages, and you'll certainly find translation requests matching your criteria.

There was nothing personal in my private message, you can be sure of that, but I've got to be strict about automatic translation tools, the other admins will confirm.

Best regards,
