A Confusing Sentence

Hi everyone,

When I was studying vocabulary, I faced a sentence confusing me. "He married a woman whose young daughter obsessed him". One of my teachers says that the man loves the young girl but he married her mother. The other one says that the man married a woman and the woman's daughter loves him. Which one is correct?

I can see what is causing the confusion ,I think.

When a girl obsesses you, you are the one who is obsessed by her, so you can't stop thinking about her. So your first teacher is right.


In the second case, the sentence would have been

"He married a woman whose daughter was obsessed by him".

Thank you Lein, actually the problem was being caused by definition. It says “obsess” means to think all the time. I was confused because when I put the definition on the sentence (the young girl thinks him all the time), my second teacher seems right but I looked at the meaning in my main language, I understood that my first teacher is right.
