I'm sure that the way in which the seeds would be explained would not only make it meaningful, it would make it fun.
Im sure that newcomers to the site (who never knew that there were points beforehand) would find it great.
Seeds they can plant in the same garden, so we have the most beautiful international garden in the world!!!

Firstly I don't think there is any competition on cucumis. It probably would exist if we all did what we do to earn money.
In my opinion the point system exists solely to keep a count on how many translations we can get done for ourselves. These points are absolutely virtual so we can use any name we choose to name them.
I Imagine that instead of the word "points" there would be the word "seeds" (or its equivalent in every other language).
I can imagine a phrase like "You have XXXXX seeds to sow" instead of the current phrase.
