I agree with you, galka. Rain also has it's typical smell, even though it's not necessarily the water itself. It's more the soil that gets wet and gives off a very special smell. But there are really people - even if it sounds very incredible - who can smell when snow is on its way. A very useful "talent" here in Austria, because then you can maybe be the first on his ski early in the morning.

I don't have snow... hehe.

And I have THE summer, 32°C at the morning... 27°C at night... I'm 5° from the Equator line.

Ceará isn't so green as Angelo's picture. Hehe.

I could never understand, how people can associate Christmas with summer. For me, it has to be cold (if we're lucky, there is even snow), so you curl up in front of the fireplace and you usually get warm pullovers and socks for Christmas. Therefore, it sounds rather strange to me, if people celebrate Christmas on the beach. But I guess it's just a matter of tradition and habit

Not only Christmas, but specially New Year. One has no choice when living in a place where it never snows...

I wouldn't even know where to place the fireworks, if there wasn't any snow at New Year's Eve. We usually put them in a hill of snow before it gets released into the air.

I was just wondering that it has to be kinda strange for you to listen to songs like Bing Crosby's "White Christmas" or "Jingle Bells". Or have you guys come up with some own Christmas charols that do not contain snow or a sledge?

"I could never understand, how people can associate Christmas with summer."

I heard this phrase before, hehe.

Well this is the outside of my house, well, it is a bit green because it was recorded in April (it was raining time here), but let me take a picture of it now... Ok, here it is.

Heidrun,

You're right. We have our very own versions of Christian carols, the song remains the same, but the lyrics hasn't any references to snow. "Jingle bells" is a good example, here it's called "Bate o sino".

No carol speaks of sledges either - but everyone knows what they are, because Santa Claus comes on one of them, but flying!

Last Christmas I was in Sicily and it was a bit strange for me because it was really warm for me there. I was accustomed to German temperatures in winter about +5°C during the day and at night up to -8°C... and in Sicily we had +17°C and at night +5°C. Look at the foto which I took from our balcony hehe

Hehe Goncin, that's interesting. Maybe it would be fun to change places to get to know the differences. Especially as you say you never have any snow at all.

Gonci, what a pity that there is no snow.
I think I'm lucky to live in the Balkans and have four seasons...

Thata, nice picture ...but it looks soo dry!

I happened to wath the news right now and I heard southern Brazil has heavy floods, big contrast. I'm glad you live there ...far away from that tragedy.

Maybe you couldn't believe I had never seen snow at all, as I never got out from my country nor even travelled to the Southern Brazil, where (eventually) snows.

But galka, weather is really crazy where I live... Sometimes we have the four seasons during a single day (but, of course, no snow). As I live in the "highlands" (OK, not so high, 1,030 m above sealevel), in winter sometimes there is frost (grass turn into white).

It snows here [almost] every year (sometimes with temperature going under -5°C), but none notices, because none wants to. ¬¬
People don't want to ruin the image of a "Tropical country".
