Quoting some examples from my dictionary:
make a great fuss (hullabaloo) of,
that will create a sensation (stir),
that will set (people's) tongues wagging,
it will make a noise in the world

Also offered as "synonyms"
ado, to-do
Shakespeare's play using the ado word is translated by "melu" which is more like noise but can be used when people are talking.

It is also near rumour (juoru). This could(?) refer to tabloids writing a lot about something...but it sounds odd that something would be confirmed like that, maybe the fuss (articles and people talking) confirms that it is important, people are concerned about it.

Could we say, "the fuss was confirmed"?

No, I don't think so because in your suggestion the fuss is the object and in the original it is the subject. The fuss was confirming something that is not said here. An incomplete sentence gives questionable results...

Oh! In that case the Portuguese translation is incorrect.

My first translation was "sensation", then I rejected.

I mean that the verb is wrong - it's active, not passive, i.e. "the fuss confirmed [something]" not "the fuss [was] confirmed [by something]".

I was talking to GislaineB and told her to start sending complete texts.
Finnish doesn't work like the indo-europeans.

Yes, the verb in mine was first active, then I put passive, then I rejected.

Now that I read my translation again, it looks like a confirmed fuss (a noun with attribute) which it is not I am hoping that the remark I wrote clarifies the matter...

Hmm. This is exactly the opposite of what you said above (20 May 2007 10:40), Maribel - which is correct?

I think she needs a ... after the phrase.

Did GislaineB give any more information about this one?

P.S. Are you communicating with her in Portuguese? Her profile says that's the only language she can read.

But what's the article about? Was there a fuss about him/her? Or did he/she confirm it?

It's from a metal band.
I think that is saying that some spectacle is confirmed.
"Tarja Turunen:
we can kick some asses now"

Oh! So it's not a fuss at all! It's a show of some kind.

These words do not mean a show - they mean a controversy - which is it?

Sorry Kafetzou, I am trying to say the same thing all the time...

But with Tarja Turunen, this is all wrong!!!
She was a singer in a band called Nightwish and was thrown out of the band with a nasty way last September. This created a great fuss and she had to deal with the matter in public (crying in press conference etc), it certainly was not easy. >>>that made her stronger<<< Now it makes sense, the few words in ads that try to sell the tabloids are always ambiguous (and this time I had not enough imagination).

Today's Iltalehti http://www.iltalehti.fi/viihde/200705226137654_vi.shtml tells that the name of the new singer will be published next wednesday on band's website www.nightwish.com
