However, the author apologized for his mistakes in his Remarks ("d(é)s(o)l(é) pour les fautes. ), so I guess this might mean he wants us to correct them for him...? | | | 10 listopad 2007 06:50 | | | Or we could use common sense :P
If I wanted to get an autograph of my favourite actor, in this case Rowan Atkinson, and if my language skills were insufficient to write him a decent letter (since decent letters are more likely to get replies), I'd post something on Cucumis and would like to have the translators correct it for me!
So, it's fine as it is, and the official policy shouldn't be taken too literally =)
| | | 10 listopad 2007 09:39 | | | Yup, I agree, and that's why I left it corrected, even though he didn't really ask us to!
But I have to admit I'm using my "common sense" to allow myself to break the clear rules here... | | | 10 listopad 2007 09:44 | | | It's not breaking, it's personal interpretation! | | | 10 listopad 2007 09:52 | | | Well, if you want, you can always ask Francky5591 or cucumis or somebody else about that too. I'm just following the rules as I have understood them, and even in this case, I'm allowing myself to break the rules, because as you said, I think this boy would be happier if we did!
Anyway, I'm on your side in this case, Urunghai, so you don't need to argue with me!
But you might want to confirm with some of the Administrators what the policy is here at , and how much "personal interpretation" we are supposed to insert in the translations we do... | | | 10 listopad 2007 12:35 | | | Hello, I do not agree with translating the mistakes, as they weren't done intentionnaly. I edited the French text, as I don't see any interest in reproducing mistakes that were done in a text. It is the same about the lack of punctuation or diacritics. If this text was typed with a lot more mistakes, I wouldn't edit it, but notify the requester that I put his/her text in "meaning only". | | | 10 listopad 2007 12:51 | | | Oh, I didn't meant to argue, I was just considering that unintentional mistakes should never be translated.
Or in other words, that perticular rule is just silly.
So, the text is translated, everybody's happy, and don't worry about me taking "personal interpretation" too far, I won't |
