The Neuron has many shapes, and behaves in different ways, however there are a number of internal characteristics common to almost all neurons.
First we will start with the characteristics they have in common with the rest of the cells in the body:
Neurons are wrapped in a membrane which separates the neuron from its environment.
The neuron has a nucleus which contains genetic information.
The neuron contains cytoplasm, mitochondria, and other cells.
