| | Klockk, could you please explain to us why you chose "Stardardforskrifter" as a translation of "soopen"? |
| | 12 July 2008 01:08 |
| | Martijn, could it be that it should actually say: Slopen met Simpsons? (whatever "slopen" means...) Take a look at this:
http://www.spele.nl/game/thesimpsons/slopenmetsimpsons.html
|

| | Yes that is possible!
That site is quite cleverly found of you.
'Slopen met Simpsons' would mean:
Demolishing with Simpsons
It's the kind of demolishing a demolishing firm does; the game shows a yellow truck that does so. I hope you know what I mean.
PS. Sorry I couldn't respond earlier, it was very late here yesterday =) |

| | Francky, could you please help us out here? It seems that we might have found the correct wording in Dutch (what´s written in the original text doesn´t make any sense) but I don´t know what we should do - is it possible to correct the Dutch text accordingly (in stead of "soopen" write "slopen" )? In any case, the Danish translation is not correct, so I suppose it should also be rejected? I have asked Klockk to please comment on his translation of this translation request, but he hasn´t answered so far.
I´m afraid I don´t know what to do in this situation....

| | I edited the Dutch text.
Wouldn't "demontering" convey the meaning from "slopen" into Danish? |
| | 14 July 2008 11:09 |
| | Boonjour Francky . Je viens de verifier le mot "slopen" qui , tu as raison, comme d'habitude, correspond au mot danois " demontering". |

| | I´m sorry to say this, but "demontering" does NOT correspond to "demolishing" since "demontering" means "to disassemble".
Demolishing should be translated to "nedrivning" (as Martijn also explained: It's the kind of demolishing a demolishing firm does). |

| | Sorry Anita, for my Danish! I will edit with the right meaning, so! |
| | 14 July 2008 13:57 |
| | Thanks! |

| | Hej Anita .I found "slosen = demontering on google.
So what is right ? |
| | 14 July 2008 22:37 |
| | montere = assemble
demontere = disassemble
From Politikens Retskrivnings- og betydningsordbog:
demontere ORDKLASSE: verbum - BØJES: demonterer, demonterede, demonteret
DELES: de-mon-te-re = skille ad el. gøre uskadelig ¯ demontere en maskine · demontere en bombe |

| | about "slopen", I don´t speak Dutch but I do believe that Martijn (who´s a Dutch expert) is right when he says it means "to demolish" ;-) |
| | 14 July 2008 18:39 |
| | hEJ ANITA. Of course I believe you and Martijn. Ihave just checked on Google again and it gives me both words. I don't want to create a problem, you know. Slosen = ""demontering" works, i.g. : "demontere en bil" et slosen = nedrivning works too, i.e. " nedrive et hus". I just wanted to help and I found " demontering" Did I do something wrong ?. |

| | Hello Anita and Gamine,
No I don't think you have done something wrong gamine .
Slopen = to demolish (like the firm), to destroy. Most of the time this happens not that neat (In those neater cases we use: demonteren, afbreken, uit elkaar halen). Slopen belongs to things like crushing cars on a car dump or demolishing a house. It is also informally used to describe someone breaking something ('Wat heb je nú weer gesloopt?' = What have you broken this time? !).
In any case, the 'slopen' in this game is quite rough and uses heavy machinery in stead of technicians that are carefully disassembling a piece of technology.

| | Hi Martijn. Thanks a lot for answering me, because I was quiet lost and didn't understand anymore. And of course I had been checking before answering and that's why I allowed myself to answer Francky.
Thanks a much for your explanation, it helps me a lot. Moreover I had watched a cartoon with the Simpsons repairing their car, so I was just confirmed in my first opinion. Anyway, thanks to you. |

| | Hi Gamine. No problem you are always welcome for help ! |
| | 14 July 2008 22:57 |
| | Thanks a lot for the thorough explanation, Martijn! :-)
And to you, Gamine: I´m sorry if I didn´t explain myself well enough, I should probably have given you the full explanation to start with the way Martijn did.

| | Don't be sorry Anita. You did your work, as you always do. Perfectly. I was just a bit lost, because
I didn't understand why I could find the word "demontering" as a translation for "slopen. Now I understand, so everything is okay. "gone with the wind" like Francky says. |
