The space in which people work when handling loads has an impact on how demanding
the task is for them. Walking up steps or a ramp when moving between work
areas is more demanding. If possible, all handling should be carried out on one
level, and anything other than a very light object should be transported using the
elevator
rather than being carried up and down stairs.
