During the early phase of the Upper Cenozoic (i.e. of the last 23 million years), the current Greek area was covered by Aigiida. | Remarks about the translation | Aigiida: During the above mentioned period Aiggida was an extensive region of land constituted by Greece, Aegean and Cretan sea, and the west coast of Turkey. During the Pleocene period (4,5-2,5 million of years ago), regions of Aigiida became submerged in the sea, apart from mountains's tops , which constituted the islands of the Aegean. |
