| | I think it should be "home", not "house". I would change it and validate this, but I don't know how many other changes have been made. Tantine, could you please make this edit and validate the translation? |

| | Hi Tantine, Smy and Handyy!
Sorry I haven't written for so long but I couldn't.
This text is not my so I can't explain that.
We can ask Stijn or Gian (one of them translated it in Dutch) I'm learning Turkish so I was wondered what does it mean in English.
regards! :-)

| handyyNumber of messages: 2118 | Hi all,
there is no specific information about the text. it's not clear that her not having a house(or a home) is a result or a reason: the house mentioned in the text is not known whether it is the one at which she lived with her family once upon a time or the one at which she is living now! but there is a truth that in turkish 'için' means 'as',that's why ı chose using 'as' inspite of 'so', when translating it.
regards!!byee.. |

| | "için" in this text means "because". |

| handyyNumber of messages: 2118 | Hi Kafetzou,
then why did you change 'as' to 'so'?
Bye... |

| | I have lived alone as I couldn't get along with my family.

| smyNumber of messages: 2481 | Kafetzou, biz genellikle "çünkü" kelimesini "because" olarak çeviriyoruz,
burada "-diği için" kullanılıyor ve "so" koyduğun için ikinci cümlenin anlamı bozuluyor, "bu yüzden evim yoktu" anlamına geliyor.
Handyy, kelimelerin yerini değiştirmeyi denesen, şöyle: as I couldn't get along with my family, I lived alone. ikinci cümle için de "because" ve "home" kullanmak bence anlama zarar vermez, nasıl olsa bunu diyenin neyi kasttetiğini asla anlayamayacağız
Selamlar! |

| | handyy, I didn't change anything here.
smy, "için" is often translated as "because".
"So" is definitely incorrect here. I think the translation should be as follows:
I lived alone because I couldn't get along with my family.
Because I didn't have a home.
In Turkish, the second sentence is a sentence fragment, so it should be one in English as well. |

| nisaNumber of messages: 19 | so böyle bi yerde için anlamına gelmez. ...sonucunda evim yok evim olmadığı için değil. doğrusu bu yüzden evim yok olmalı.

| | nisa, it is the English translation that we are working on here, not the Turkish original. |

| handyyNumber of messages: 2118 | Hi kafetzou,
at first my translation was like that: I lived alone as I couldn't get along with my family. As I didn't have a house. ı guess ı was confused because you said Tantine to change the translation and Tantine changed it as 'I lived alone as I couldn't get along with my family.
So I didn't have a home.' so ı said you then why you changed it! sorry for my misunderstanding! (smy you understood like me, didn't you? )from the beginning of the poll ı tried to explain that we couldn't use 'so' here! of course ı still don't know what the real meaning of the text is -as smy said we'll never learn it- but according to the meaning ON THE SURFACE we can transalate this text like the first one ı did before it is validated, ı mean with DOUBLE 'as'('as'-or because- in each sentence)
thank you all! HAPPY FEST |

| | De vertaling in het NL is: Ik leefde alleen omdat ik het niet goed kon vinden met mijn familie. Dus ik had geen huis (woning). |
| | 12 October 2007 05:44 |
| | I only asked Tantine to change "house" to "home". You can still read my message above. |

| | Hi Kafetzou (and everyone else too)
Sorry about the mistake I made in editing the text. I hope I have got it right this time.
I had too much on my mind the last two or three weeks, so I've not been at my best.
I hope things will now run smoother.
Bises

| handyyNumber of messages: 2118 | Hi Tantine,
ı guess the translation is correct now (still, ı explained my thoughts about 'house or home', but if the majority think it should be 'home', then no objection )
good day!! |

| | Yes; it's fine now. Thanks, Tantine, and I hope all is well with you.
