God rest his soul !

| I don't believe Jim is dead.
If so, I really doubt if he died of overwork on cucumis.
Anyway, I would like to find where is Jim going when I have the chance to visit Sweden.
I don't think Sweden has a Heaven. |

piasNumber of messages: 8114 | ....just a thought.
I had to agree with kafetzou, it's a good idea to translate to swedish, so his mum and relatives are able to understand the condoleances. But still I think (?) we /you should even keep your origin language...The origin way of express your
condolence, since it's not easy to translate everything (moods, feelings, expressions) 100% correct. |

| I sent a letter of condolences in French to Jim's mum, she will understand what it is about, as she's certainly got some relatives that can read French. I allowed myself to answer personaly to the letter she sent me, and I talked about Jim's enormous work on the cucumis Swedish interface, his project with the Latin quotes, his great work as an expert in Latin, Swedish and Norwegian, adding that Jim was very serious and intransigent, but also very funny, with a lot of humour.
So Pia's OK to gather other condolences mails and send them to Jim's mother once it will be printed.
About Swedish, maybe there should be some introduction telling that these following words, writen by members of cucumis, are to say Jim goodbye and tell condolences to his mother, wife and children.
But as Pia said, as it wouldn't be easy to translate everything into Swedish, maybe is it better just to write in one's mother tongue... |

| pluiepoco, for God sake, do you HAVE to say something inappropiate every single time? What are all of those comments about Sweeden not having a Heaven??? |

smyNumber of messages: 2481 | I agree with Pias that it's not easy to translate every expression %100 correct, and I think it would be a good (I can't say "nice" )feeling for his family to see condolences in at least 20 languages and knowing that how many people from all over the world care for him. So, as Francky says "maybe there should be some introduction telling that these following words, written by members of cucumis, are to say ... "
|
| 9 November 2007 14:47 |
| some kind of introduction, in Swedish, like :
"Dear family Sundström, we are deeply affected by Jim's death and would like you to accept our condolences, writen in our respective languages" : + [texts in all languages posted by cucumis members]
Someone else can complete this introduction, in order for it to be translated by a native Swedish speaker?
Also : send your texts to pias, she will gather these words for us, I could join Katherin_z (but she didn't log in since middle of October) and we'll try to contact her later, but in the meanwhile the mail will be ready to be sent... |

piasNumber of messages: 8114 | Hi people,
If you would like to send your condolences by mail , It's fine:
matpigan@hotmail.com
I also wonder if we should open another topic ONLY for the condolences ?? I know...you are writing them right here, but I think it's easier to gather them (copy/paste) on a word.doc if there is not a lot of other 'discussions' around, even if the small talk is nice
What do you think?

| I opened a thread for condolences, just above this one in the same part of the English forum ("introduce yourself" . I already copied-pasted marhaban's condolences, and any of you who feels like can post in this specific thread.
It will be easier for Pia to gather these condolences.
Thanks a lot for your help, Pia.

| Man, I had to go and sit down and have a moment of silence for him. He was such a great guy: not just intelligent, but friendly and warm too...
I left a note of condolence in the condolence thread.
But there's really nothing that can be said to properly express the loss. I am so, so sad... ; ;

| I solidly believe that Jim is still alive.
God is omnipresent, so when we use cucumis, God uses it too.
I belive God knows what Jim did on cucumis. God would not have called him back from cucumis, since he is needed by cucumis more than the Heaven. |

| I got confirmation about Jim's death on 29th of September. |
