Your English is really very good and some Experts are too "pernickety" and don't look in dictionaries before spouting off.

I had this kind of thought about translating into Italian (first I got really bad notes (1.6) I persevered and I'm now a 3.66!!!.

Don't give up completely, do shorter ones that will give you your self confidence back.
