| "seleção" is the brazilian national team of soccer.
Is it really correctly translated into english by "selection" ??? |

| The French version talks of "divers essais" - "various tests" in English. Following the accepted French version the English should read:
"current chooser did various tests"

| I agree with Tantine. "a realisé divers essais" should be translated "did several tries". I think that "test" is not the most appropriate word, as we talk about games. |

| wrongly translated words: selection, selector, and tasks. Replace with: national team, manager, and tests. |

| I am unhappy with a réalisé > was given.
Certainly the tasks were given but they were also performed I think. |

| "selection" -> "national team" or, if not national, simply "team". "Seleção" is the name given in Portuguese to the national team formed by a country's (supposed) best players.
"selecionador" -> "coach" |

| All that Goncin said.
And "Queria saber ..." it's like: "Gostaria de saber", so should be "I would like to know" |

| Thanks everyone for your help! I had no idea, and this means that the French is definitely incorrect.
On the other hand, I think the word "tasks" is OK - we talk about giving someone certain tasks to complete, and if s/he completes them correctly, s/he passes the test. CC: Francky5591 |

| One more question for the Portuguese speakers: Did the coach perform the tasks or give them (for the players to perform)? |
| 2007年 जुलाई 5日 15:51 |
| In relation to the portuguese original text, I believe, that the english translation now "got it" ;-) |

| Kafetzou,
"Tasks" is not the right word for this context. "Trial" would fit better. Thus, "the coach made various trials...".
The sense is "he tried some players, they did not play as expected, so he changed them by others, and so on".

| Oh wow - this is VERY different. I'll change it. CC: Francky5591 |

| This time I went back to the original, as the French translation is completely wrong, I think. samanthalee, I've re-set the voting. |
| 2007年 जुलाई 5日 16:28 |
| I think matches is not "jogos", it is "fosforo". |
| 2007年 जुलाई 5日 16:38 |
| But "match" is also a "jogo" of soccer... |

| Alguns argumentos no texto não estão exatamente como deveriam, coach poderia ser traduzido como técnico. |
| 2007年 जुलाई 6日 02:26 |
| Traduzido como técnico?
O texto original já é em português, tom.naves.
nota bene: selecionador, no Brasil, é mais usado para definir psicólogos de Recursos Humanos e o botão usado para trocar o canal do televisor. |

| "essais", meaning making changes just to see what happens, is not "trials": it is "tests" or "experiments". |

| Okay, having read the entire discussion here, I am going to jump in and edit the English target, working from the French (?) source. I am confused about which is the source...
