In , a meeting of great importance for Venezuelan and Latin-American history took place in an elegant an modest London house, 27 Grafton Street. An exceptional man of Caracas, the first American to obtain a universal character, told a couple of young fellow-countrymen his vision, his conception and his passion of a free, integrate, solidary America.

From July to September of that crucial year of the nineteenth century, the greatest trilogy of Americanism became structured: Miranda, Bolívar and Bello.

The precursor-as Miranda is called among us-lived in that house during the last six of the fourteen years he spent in London. In a lapidary sentence, Miranda established the unquestionable meaning of that house, writing precisely from it "My house in this city is and always will be the fixed point for the Independence and Freedom of the Colombian Continent". It was the meeting place for the expeditionaries to meet new people and become friends . Its doors were always open for informal conversations for Venezuelans living in the British Capital.

It was in 1978, that the Venezuelan Government decided to buy the famous house where Miranda had lived in London. In addition, the four houses flanking it-three on the right hand side and one on the left-were also acquired. They will from a Venezuelan cultural center in a distinguished part of London.

The house was built in 1792, in the most pure Georgian style. Rising in a quiet and distinguished part of London, the house was identified in those days as No.27 Grafton Street (now 58 Grafton Way). Miranda settled there in 1802. In that house, his two sons were born.Leandro in 1803 and Francisco in 1806.

In 1817, the house served as headquarters for the recruiting center, from which legionaries from different countries left to fight for the freedom of America.
