English Notre-Dame de Paris (Notre Dame Cathedral) The construction of the cathedral of Notre Dame de Paris lasted over nearly two centuries. Cathedrals were certainly meant to symbolize religious fervour but also the power of a country and were meant to surpass those that already existed. This was what was intended for Notre Dame de Paris, a Gothic masterpiece, initiated by King Louis VII in 1163. It was to be the object of constant work, whether for its embellishment or its restoration, all while hosting marriages, ceremonies, coronations and consecrations etc. Viollet le Duc partly carried out its restoration; modern laser techniques have allowed the splendour of yesteryear to return to its stones.

English The Arc de Triomphe (Triumphal Arch) Napoleon I gave various monuments to France and in particular to Paris, as like all great sovereigns he wanted at all costs to leave his mark on the times. Being a fervent admirer of the Roman Civilization, he decided upon the construction of a triumphal arch, retracing his army's various victories which was to tower over the avenue of the Champs Elysées. Originally, arches symbolised peace because soldiers returning from campaigns had to leave their weapons there, the arch marked the entrance to the city. After this they became symbols for armies' victories. The Arch on the Place de l'Etoile took from 1805 to 1835 to construct because successive regime changes delayed completion of the monument.

English Hôtel de Ville (City Hall) Originally, this monument symbolized the independence of the City of Paris in relation to the royal power of Jean II and Charles V, freedoms acquired in 1357 by the Provost of the Merchants or mayor, represented by Etienne MARCEL. In the 16th century, François I had the Hôtel de Ville rebuilt in the renaissance style of the times. In the 19th century it was the theatre and the site of great and significant events like the proclamation of the 2nd and 3rd Republics. During the fall of the Second French Empire the Hôtel de Ville was burnt down but was to be rebuilt exactly as it was from 1873 to 1882.

English The Eiffel Tower

During the 1889's World Fair held in France, there was a contest held to determine the best project that would represent with dignity the host country. The project of a huge Tower, submitted by two engineers of Gustave Eiffel workshop: KOECHLIN and NOUGUIER, was rightly chosen. The famous French engineers financed the project and were given naming rights. The construction of the Tower took place from 1887 to 1889 and President Sadi CARNOT inaugurated the Tower. Resting on 4 feet symbolizing the 4 points of the compass, the Tower is 320m high (300 in the past), and weighs 10,000 tons (including 60 tons of mere paint). The appearance of T.S.F. (Téléphonie Sans Fil, wireless telephony) saved the Tower from being destroyed. It's one of the most famous and visited buildings in the world.

Minor changes to sound more natural.

I added capital letters to paris - Paris and french - French. Have a good visit sounds very unfinished, perhaps "We hope you enjoy your visit"?

English The Place of the Republic. The place of the Republic gets its current aspect from the Second Empire. Around 1878, the Town Council of the city of Paris decided to build a monument that symbolises all of the values of the republic: liberty, egality, fraternity and the illusion of universal manhood suffrage. The group was inaugurated on the 14th July 1883.
