| Xini, could you help me?
I have private problem in solving a sturdy boys strange latin:
In temporis spatio inter aeternitibus post veronicem rationis
He say it is medieval Latin, but I think that that is something I know better than the classic so I must hear what you think, before I give my final verdict.
In medieval Latin it should be:
In temporis spacio eternibus post veronichem racionis
Out of my point of view he is not using medieval Latin. He is writing in mixed classic/homemade/medieval Latin I think.
Furthermore the word "veronicem" should mean varnish (according to him): 'vernix, vernicis', but in medieval latin "veronicem", doesn't exist and if, it should be spelled 'veronichem' marking that the c should be pronounciated as a -k- according to pronounciating rules.
Could you find any way to find that he is right?
What is your general opinion?
Thank you!

| You're right, but don't you agree this is discriminating Greek? If Latin gets its own "dead language statute", I think so should Ancient Greek.
I mean, if I'd say I know Greek I'd be lying, but if I'd say I don't know Greek, I'd be lying too :/
Just to be more correct when adding profile info
Btw, even Klingon (add contemptuous stress) is accepted as a language. Accepting Klingon and not accepting Greek is blasphemy!!
So, not necessary, but handy
My 5 cents

| Xini, I think I made a mistake. Shame on me! I have just edited a translation marked and asked by "Xini". Why do they appear in my expert box with translation that need to be evaluated? Do I have the right to evaluate them or it is proper to let the one who asked for the others opinion to evaluate them? For me it is no problem, I would like to know what is your procedure. I just hope I haven't done a bad thing |

| hi xini,
orum is used for a verb : the first person in the present form
yaziyorum = I write
seviyorum = I like
yapiyorum = I do
im :
if it's a verb, it's the first person in the past
yazdim = I wrote
sevdim = I liked
Yaptim = I done
if it's a name, it's a possessive pronoun (first person)
kalbim = my heart
askim = my love
I hope this help you.

| hello
i want to translate for me the word
"mi piace'' from italian to english....thanks a lot!! |
| 10 Oktober 2007 04:17 |
| Xini, your avatar is adorable, but the English isn't quite right - it should either be "I'm a cucumis addict" or "I'm cucumis-addicted" - you can't use the article with an adjective, only with a noun.

| Hey - don't sweat it. Imagine if I had tried to write it in Italian! Io sono un addicto di cucumis? |

You're the only administrator on-line now: could you please block or remove or do something to this translation, so somebody doesn't try to do it again, and then I have to reject it again?
Thanks! |
