David has been married to that Irish girl for two years, at the time he was playing in "Buffy, the Vampire Slayer". They met when he was still unknown and married in June 1997. David's sudden fame surely brought them apart. They were never to be seen together during promotional outings. Suddenly having crowds of fans constantly orbiting around him was certainly a blow to his marriage. Hence David's life became a whirlpool. It is rumored that his closeness with Sarah Michelle Gellar was one of the major cause of his divorce. His wife could no longer bear the romantic scenes involving her husband and the actress, despite the fact that David offered his wife a new dress every time he was to shoot a kissing scene with Sarah Michelle Gellar. Apparently this wasn't enough, as they finally divorced in October 1999.
Sarah Michelle Gellar - As early as the casting days for the role of Angel, a great bond united both David and Sarah, bond which was only to strengthen as one season lead to another. The romance between Buffy and Angel seemed so real, the two actors’ attraction's to one another so obvious that the fans took the bait. David protected Sarah from the fans during public outings like only an older brother can. A loving friendship might have budded without them being aware of it. Fans would have loved for the fiction to bridge reality and bring to life a relationship as beautiful as their characters. When David Boreanaz started with his own show, they started growing apart and all that is left for us is to imagine what could have been. And that could certainly have been beautiful!
Catalina Guirado - David met the English model during promo tours in London, doing shows and autographs. They were introduced during a party in April 2000 and did not leave one another for several months afterwards. She even came to Los Angeles for public shows and launches but their romance did not survive in the long term.
Jaime Bergman - "The only woman for him" according to David, the one he had been waiting for. She became his wife and the mother of his son. A blue-eyed blonde with impressive looks, playmate for Playboy Magazine, she played in a Baywatch parody "Son on the Beach" which has been broadcasted on Série Club. They got engaged in July 2001 and married in November of that same year. They met during a Valentine-themed party. Their romance is certainly as passionate as the one we knew of Angel and Buffy. They seem to get along very well, especially as she is respectful and unaffected and harbors as much of a sense of humor as he does. Let us wish them a lot of happiness and many small Boreanaz!
