given the high number of variables, as identfied in the variable sets presented in ...,factor analysis was used to establish whether this data could be consolidated into a smaller set of new composite factors. with a minimum loss of information to simplify interpretation,independent factor analyses were run on each of the five variable sets,using principal components factor analysis with a Varimax rotation ,as it is easier to interpret the results.The application of the scree test and a review of the eigenvalues were used to determine the most statistically significant number of factors for each of the variable sets.
