Cel-lingvo: Angla
WHAT HE DECLARED:
On his marriage with Jaime: “I never thought I would feel this one dayâ€
On meeting Jaime for the very first time: “I was bowled overâ€
On the craziest thing he ever did out of love: “I swam in the fountain in a hotel. I went amongst all these slimy Japanese fish and that pond stuff because I was so much in loveâ€
On the fact that the “Angel†series is borne upon his shoulder: “I never really thought about the pressure that I could feel. Obviously the series could sink and, if that’s the case, I’d do something else. But that wouldn’t make me lose confidence, either in myself or in my talent.â€
On the set: It can be very lonely. The light at the end of the tunnel is what makes you happy. I’m very happy with what I do.â€
On the role of Angel: I don’t really have any preferences for one side rather than the other (the good or the evil Angel), I think that it is the combination of both together, which I really like. I like the vulnerable side of Angel and also his demoniacal side. Playing a baddy is more interesting, for an actor, from what is usually said, but you don’t really want to play one all the timeâ€
On fame: “I’m from The East Coast so I’m not easily shaken. But from time to time it is easy to fall into the trap. It boosts your ego. But you have to stand back and keep yourself at a distance from it. It’s like a bad drug, but its part of what you do. Fame comes with it and can easily destroy everything like a cancer. And it’s hard because you are tempted every day. You should never forget who you are yourselfâ€
On the rewards of his success: “My parents have always been supportive of my choices… Having such fantastic parents, who are there to see your success and are also there to help you keep cool minded, is one of the best things in this milieu. I’m just lucky to be where I am at and consider myself as happy and I try to be a better person.â€
On his sex symbol status: “Am I a sex symbol? I must thank my mother and father for that, since they made me. It was easy. They started it. I was conceived in Toronto, you know?â€
On his kind of woman (long before he got married):â€Someone who is intelligent, confident, who knows how to walk, who knows how to keep her place, and who likes red. Someone who has their feet on the ground and who is poetic, and who gives off an air of mystery. Something more from within than from without. Physically I would like someone who is very supple with long legs and big eyesâ€
On how to treat the person we love: â€My advice? Listen to your partner. Whatever you do, take the time to listen and to hear what the other has to say. And don’t always decide everything yourself.â€
