Lifted Up By Happiness
Happy is the person, who is like an apple that is picked, and arrives at the place where he truly belongs. Peter Elsner speaks in his newest book about our primary desires and needs: intimacy, affiliation and love. Clear, simple and therefore poetic, his words reach the deepest essence of the matters he deals with. His poems are short stories, very personal episodes which awaken feelings we are already familiar with, or that we would gladly come to know. Here, questions which we so often ask ourselves find possible answers. It is as if we suddenly no longer have to feel alone anymore. The book has been published in a bilingual edition, in Danish and German. A wonderful present for yourself and those around you.

הודעה אחרונה | | | | | 28 אוקטובר 2008 00:31 | | | Hallo zdravko.dimov,
Thank you very much for your pleasant remark.
I am sorry that I have touched the buttom "translation rejected" because I am sure that you have been working hard on this difficult text. As a matter of fact I did not dare to do the translation myself and therefore sent it to Cucumis.
Having seen your translation I have the following proposal:"Happy like an apple that is plucked from the tree.
Happy like an apple that is plucked from the tree, is the person, who arrives where he belongs. Peter Elsner speaks in his most recent book of our core desires and needs: familiarity, relationship and love. His genuine, uncomplicated and yet poetical words touch the essence. His poems are short episodes, very personal stories that awaken feelings which we recognize or which we would love to get to know. Here we might get an answer to the questions, which we so often ask ourselves. One gets the feeling of suddenly not being alone any more.
The book is published in a bi-lingual edition: Danish and German.
A wonderful present for yourself and for the others."
What do you say? If you like it, you are welcome to use it.
Minny :-)

why did you call for admin? I think you have to wait until there is someone to evaluate the translation ...nothing to do for the admins. | | | 29 אוקטובר 2008 08:04 | | | | | | 29 אוקטובר 2008 08:17 | | piasמספר הודעות: 8113 | It's ok. Minny, don't worry.
I think there are many members, doing the same misstake, use the admin. button "wrongly". | | | 10 נובמבר 2008 09:25 | | | Original form of translation before editing and validation:

A wonderful present for you and the others. | | | 10 נובמבר 2008 09:30 | | | Hi zdravko.dimov,
As you will see, I have taken some liberties with the translation, in order to make it sound more natural in English. Please let me know if you disagree with any of these new expressions, and/or would like me to re-instate any of your previous ones.
(Please rest assured that I have understood the German text, so my changes are not misinterpretations of the original text, they are just more natural English expressions to say the same things.) | | | 10 נובמבר 2008 17:57 | | | Plucked By Happiness.

potential answers.
I lost orientation for a while but I have just got it. I saw someone had made some corrections of the interpretation. Is it you? I ask because I am not very familiar with the procedures of dealing with the site. So, as for the corrections I agree with some of them. I do not agree with the "sound naturaly" statement. This is a commentary on a book with a philosophic content. So the literal tranlation of the terms is crucial for the reader to understand it. The level is important as well. I mean certain sentence structure and words used. The above instants from the text are what I disagree.
Greetings! | | | 11 נובמבר 2008 02:34 | | | Hi Dimov,
Yes, I myself made the corrections to the English text.
(As you will see above, I kept your original text in the notes, so we can always refer to it again if necessary.)
Please rest assured that I ensured the content exactly reflects the meaning of the original. It's just that some expression which are very natural to say in German are very unnatural in English, and especially for this book of poetry, personal anecdotes and popular psychology, the feeling tone of the review will be very important for the reader, I should think.
At any rate, I have replaced my corrections with your original versions in the three cases you noted above. Please let me know again if you'd like anything else changed. |
