Data obtained from testing persons at increased risk or low risk for HCV infection suggest that repeatedly reactive specimens with high absorbance values are more likely to demonstrate the presence of anti-HCV in supplemental testing.... The positive control in the test kit is not to be used to quantitate assay sensitivity but to verify that the test kit components are capable of detecting a reactive specimen provided the test procedure has been strictly adhered to.
