Latest messages | | | | | 1 June 2008 01:15 | | | Hi maki, what do you mean by "set"?
make? create? produce? | | | 1 June 2008 01:26 | | | | | | 1 June 2008 01:37 | | | "ceramist" is an artisan who makes ceramic objects or artwork. He does not "apply" ceramic plates.
| | | 1 June 2008 01:50 | | | I see, but I couldn't find a proper word in English. Do you have any suggestion? | | | 1 June 2008 01:54 | | | What would be logical is the verb "make", but I don't know if that conveys the original. You tell me.
Try to think in a synonym for the verb in Bosnian...that may help. | | | 1 June 2008 02:56 | | | The verb is ok, but the noun "ceramist" isn't. I can't remember the English word for someone who sets ceramic plates, someone who sticks them on the wall in bathroom. | | | 1 June 2008 03:06 | | | Oh, well that's totally different!
What you mean is not "ceramic plates", but tiles. That person who lays the ceramic tiles is a bricklayer.
Therefore the sentence should read:
Bricklayer with experience lays all types of ceramic tiles.
| | | 1 June 2008 10:49 | | | In Bosnian and Serbian a bricklayer is a person skilled in building with bricks (zidar) and we have the other word for someone who lays the ceramic tiles (keramiÄar). "KeramiÄar" doesn't make buldings. That's why I had problem to find a proper word.
Tnx, Lilian. |
