| | Original version of translation before editing:
For everyone's security, please be sure to notify us about guests that are arriving and staying over night in your homes. If you are not leaving on vacation then it will not be possible for guests to stay overnight in your homes.
If the clinic door is closed, there is a telephone in the entrance which you can use to call. We have additional telephones to the clinic:
The medical receptionist
The doctors office
The nurse
Nurses/Duty personel |

| | Hi dramati!
I have a few questions for you:
- could it be "rooms" instead of "homes"?
- where is the telephone? In the entrance hall? Beside the entrance?
- could we say "we have additional telephones in the clinic"?
- could "the nurse" mean "the head nurse"?
Thanks in advance!

| | Hi, actually the writer uses the hebrew word Beit which is home instead of Heder which is room. I assume this is a vacation village of sorts with a clinic, not uncommon in Israel. Other than that I agree that the intention of the writer could very well be beside the entrance, even though he specifically says in which is b' which is in instead of l'yad which is next to or beside, and the nurse is nurse which is since they didn't right the ahote rashi which is head nurse. |

| | Thank you, dramati!
Sorry to be so late getting back to you!
I'll put it to a vote now! |

| | The translation is not exact. First 'house' is translated as 'mansion' in one place.
Secondly - the translation sais: 'if you _are_ leaving on vacation' and not 'if you _are not_ leaving' |

| | No, it says if you are not going to be there (in parenth. it says you went on vacation as an example). Bait is always house or home. An apartment can be a bait also a home also a mansion in Hebrew. Also domecile. Interesting language when we try to convert it into understandable english. Mansion, in english, would probably be inappropriate since I know of very few mansions in Israel and when he writes ×–×× ××™× ×›× ×‘×חוז ב×חוזה he is actually saying if you are not on the land or not on the estate (and in parenthesis he goes on to give an example by saying, on vacation) So I don't think you should use the word mansion in this translation or even estate, since he is refering to whatever complex of homes or buildings is involved. Mansion is certainly not the meaning. I know of few mansions in Israel other than, possibly, the President's complex, and certainly none in which there would be a variety of guest houses. |

| | Hi dramati!
Should we change "home" to "apartment"? This would make it clearer that they are part of an apartment complex with a common entrance way. "Home" gives the impression of separate, individual houses.
Also, should we make it
"if you are leaving on vacation..."
because this would mean
"you are not going to be there (= at home)?
I'm sorry to have all these questions for you! I can't read Hebrew at all... |
| | 11 تشرين الثاني 2007 04:14 |
| | Well, you actually could translated it as apartment since home, house, apartment are all used by the Hebrew work Bait in the normal day to day useage. You are leaving on vacation is harder since he actually uses the word expression for going out for freedom Hofish, which usually means vacation. |

| | dramati, why do you want an administrator to check this page? |
| | 11 تشرين الثاني 2007 06:06 |
| | Hi,
Clicked on the wrong button by mistake. Sorry. |
| | 11 تشرين الثاني 2007 06:10 |
| | Probably because I'm pestering him with so many darned questions!
Seriously, though, he probably just clicked the wrong box under his last message when he posted it...
Hi again dramati,
I made the changes we discussed to the translation:
would you like to check it to see if it's okay?
Sorry this is taking so long!

| | Hi IAn,
No problem. The intent is to make it as comfortable as possible for the English reader, but I always like questions about Hebrew since it is really a neat language. |

| | Hi dramati,
Thanks for that important information!
Please tell cucumis about that! Also, please tell him what browser you're using, what system and so on, so he can make this site more universally compatible, if possible.
Thanks again for that feedback: we want this site to be as user-friendly as possible! |
