Are you a photographer?
There are many pictures of landscapes in your album, they're extraordinary!
But I've seen you like to travel, I like travelling as well, and knowing different places and people with a different way of life.
Have you ever been to Brazil?
I'm from Bahia, have you ever heard anyone talking about the city Salvador, the city of the sun, of the beautiful beaches?

have you ever heard talking of the city Salvador was awkward in English and I edited it to have you ever heard (anyone) talking (about) in order to make the translation smoother and more acceptable to an English speaking audience.

There are many pictures....

I can see you like to travel, I love traveling too, visiting different places, meeting people with different lifestyles.

.....have you ever heard about Salvador, the city of the sun, of the most beautiful beaches?

I actually like lilians version, but won't pressure, since the current one still gives a pretty good understanding of the translation. If you want to edit it for quality I would suggest you look at lillians suggestion.

It should be " You have many pictures of landscapes in your album, they're extraordinary!"

@Lilian & SD: Well, the text clearly says "tem", a 3rd person singular. I think Lilian is more correct by treating the 3rd person in an impersonal manner, didn't think of that.
Lilian, "I can see you like to travel, I love traveling too, visiting different places, meeting people with different lifestyles." how does that differ from my translation? Yours is more fluent, mine is more accurate. I do agree it should be "beach " instead of "coast", though.

@Dramati: Thanks for the credit and patience, I'll edit it right away.

Urunghai:

The differences in that sentence are:

1 - "But" in the beginning was not needed.

2 - using different verbs for places (visit) and for people (meet).

3 - people with different lifestyles. The word " lifestyle" is, actually, more common than the phrase you used (people with a different way of life)
4 - as you said..beaches instead of shore.

I think they are quite different.
Don´t you agree?

I agree completely Lilian, but that's not exactly what the Portuguese original says.

You can translate in two different ways; fluent and accurate.
E.g. "estilo de vida" can be translated as "way of life" or "lifestyle" according to which translation method you chose. (I noticed Guilon also does this, when translating from Latin, he submits one and writes the other down in the commentary box )
Since I try to be careful with Portuguese, I chose the more accurate way.
I guess the perfect translation would be the balance between accurate and fluent, but I don't see why my translation should be of much lesser quality.

You did a great job, Urunghai.
I didn´t say your translation was one of less quality.
However, sometimes we have to change some words from the original in order to bring the translation as close as possible to the most common estructure used by the target language.
Just to sound "natural" to native speakers of (in this case) English.

Fluency also implies accuracy, but with the target language as well, not only easy understanding.
I hope you don´t take that personally.
So far the translations made by you I´ve seen, are all excellent.

Thank you Lilian, although some of my translations are far from excellent :P

It was a bit late when I wrote that yesterday, so sorry for the bitter tone.
Well I took it a bit personal, since you seemed to keep on pushing me to edit.
I really respect your help, and if you give options that sound way better than mine, I'll be the first to edit them. ("tem" - "praia" - ...)
If I think both are fine, I'll just leave the translation that way. Besides, the submitter of this text can check out the comments and still edit it.
So please, don't stop posting comments
