The traditional low-pressure lamp only damages the DNA with absorption of monochromatic UV light with a wavelength of 254 nm (maximum absorption of the DNA is placed between 260 and 265 nm). In general the microorganisms use a repair method, which is performed by enzymes and other biomolecules. The repair can take place under the influence of light (photo activation) or in the dark (dark repair).
The MultiWave lamps from Berson with its wide spectrum of wavelengths, do not only destroy the DNA, but also the RNA, proteins, enzymes and other bio-molecules. Because of the high density of photons the lamp generates, many different molecules can be influenced in a very short time of exposure.
Reactivating is impossible: Deactivating is total and permanent.
Staytime:
The photochemical process, which the UV-light from the MultiWave-lamps cause in the microorganisms, take place in a fraction of a second. "The time", which the microorganisms stays in the radiation room in a InLine system, is always longer than the time, which is needed for the photochemical processes to take place. This means, that the short stay-time the fluid is in the radiation room in a InLine system is more than enough for achieving the wished disinfection.
Bersons MultiWave-lamps have a high density of photons, with in other words an extreme high UV energy, which exceeds the necessary energy, which is needed for any of these reactions. Research has shown, that a short period with intensive UV-treatment is more effective than a long treatment with lower intensity (Bunsen and Ruscoes law).
