| smyNumber of messages: 2481 | What is the problem with this page Freya? you have checked it for an admin |
| | 18 January 2008 14:37 |
| FreyaNumber of messages: 1910 | No, I did not. I just left a message for the user who introduced this text explaining its meaning. |
| | 18 January 2008 14:38 |
| smyNumber of messages: 2481 | OK |

| | First of all the Romanian text is not corect. If it was the alternative suggested by Freya, it would have been "Îţi ofer o floare în dar pentru prietenia noastră" which it is not what the Dutch user wrote. |

| | Issie, are you sure about the corectitude of the source text? |

| smyNumber of messages: 2481 | hmmmm.... thanks iepurica! |

| FreyaNumber of messages: 1910 | Yes, but I couldn't have translated word for word because it has no meaning. As I already specified, I tried to give the meaning that I think it should be. I understand this sentence like that, I don't know how you understand it. |

| FreyaNumber of messages: 1910 | I offer you a flower in the gift of our friendship. Does it sound well ? or else : "I give you a flower as a gift in the name of our friendship" = that should be more precise what I understand from this sentence.
I admit that it isn't really heard in this form "în darul prieteniei noastre" , but more like : "îţi ofer o floare ca dar al prieteniei noastre". (I would say it this way). |
| | 18 January 2008 16:25 |
| | I know, I just consider a little bit awkard the initial text. |
| | 18 January 2008 16:36 |
| FreyaNumber of messages: 1910 | OK. Awkward, but it's understandable. Maybe it should be let "meaning only". |
| | 18 January 2008 17:09 |
| | At least, I have not yet heard such an expression in the usual conversation, not even encountered it in the written Romanian.
I doubt it is corect, but... whatever! Who wants to translate it, is free to do it. |

| FreyaNumber of messages: 1910 | Hmmm, that really makes me curious , I shalll ask Mr. G. Pruteanu on his site about this issue, I'm sure he'll answer me . I recall having read something like : "În darul iubirii noastre, îţi ofer acest inel.", or something like this. Anyway it doesn't sound so strange this exprimation, at least not to my ears . |
| | 19 January 2008 07:29 |
| FreyaNumber of messages: 1910 | You were right. Mr. Pruteanu, actually did answer me look here. But as I translated it has the same meaning: "I offer you a flower as a gift in the name of our frienship"/ "...for our friendship".
The curiosity killed the cat, in my case. |

| FreyaNumber of messages: 1910 | I'll save my breath next time when I see this kind of texts (as not to kill the cat again, although it's said it has 9 lives )... |
| | 19 January 2008 13:54 |
| | Ei bine, mi-ai dat o idee bună (apropo de situl cu pricina). O să modific eu textul ca să aibă mai mult sens. |

| FreyaNumber of messages: 1910 | OK, am văzut că a mai postat dl Pruteanu ceva interesant. Nu merge nici "dar al prieteniei noastre", ci numai ceva cu înţeles de "simbol" sau "semn". Am mai învăţat şi azi ceva folositor legat de limba română... |
