| Remarks about the translation | This is preferably for Tantine, when her holidays are out :) |

| A takeover bid on the essential | TranslationEnglish Translated by Tantine | Target language: English
In this era of media redundancy and of superficiality, [title] could be like a takeover bid on the essential. The piece is, in fact, constructed in limiting to a maximum the available material; the unique source used (moreover artificial) is the click, or the impulsion. This element, which represents all the potential energy concentrated in a sole instant, reclaims, from the listener, a recognition of narrower, semiotic spaces, where the slightest distinctive feature is pertinent.
The musical development extracts, from time to time, from the overall mass, the specific characteristics of each single individual, claming its right to identity. The material finally unbinds itself and explodes in an unpredictable manner, creating a new universe of relationships never seen before. |

Oana F, I use a comma between single and individual as they are two adjectives. In the English language, a series of adjectives needs to be separated by a comma => a big, brown bus; a small, red-haired child.
Hope this helps Oana

Tantine | | | 2 October 2008 09:28 | | | Oh, sure it is like this. I was confused by the italian version. "singolo" is an adjective and "individuo" is a noun. I didn't understand why in English it cannot be the same, single - adj. and "individual" - noun (not that you are wrong, I just don't understand) | | | 2 October 2008 10:31 | | XiniNumber of messages: 1655 | Ciao Tantine!
A pair of things:
I would change;
albeit -> moreover
Potentially -> it's the energy that's potential...not an adverb for "concentrated"
tratto distintivo is distinctive feature
Drammaturgia musicale -> very difficult to translate! I had problems with this in the past, too. I have to think about a workaround...like "sviluppo" or something like this...
As Oana says, but that's the first thing I noticed too, , the comma has to be removed, because "individual" here is a noun:
"the specific characteristics of each single individual, claming its right to identity." (The drammaturgia claims the right of each individual!)
Unusual seems like "uncanny, weird", while I'd like to convey the meaning of "never occurred before"...is there a way to do this?
Thanks a lot as usual and pardon me for the long discussions about my texts
Please take care and do not work too much!

It looks fine to me
Sorry I didn't reply to your earlier message, my connection is really jumpy because of the bad weather (wind, rain, wind, rain, rain rain...) and I am having some difficulties in retrieving my email notifications.
Better late than never
Do you want me to validate it? Or do you want to press the big blue button yourself?
I'm much better I've even managed put on a little bit of weight (still need to add a few kilos though)
