Στη συνÎχεια, παÏουσιάστηκε η Ï€Ïώτη μάÏÏ„Ï…Ïας υπεÏάσπισης, Îγινε δε αντιληπτό από το ΔικαστήÏιο ότι αυτή αγνοεί την ελληνική γλώσσα και ότι ομιλει την σÎÏβικη. | Remarks about the translation | I put the accents in for you. -- kafetzou :) |

In the next part, the first witness for the defense appeared, at which point the court became aware of the fact that she did not know the Greek language and that she spoke Serbian. | Remarks about the translation | Sorry - I don't think this translation is right, because I really don't understand the phrase "Îγινε δε αντιληπτό από το ΔικαστήÏιο". I hope someone will help me with this. |

Sorry all. I got the meaning right although the "δε", in this case, is a sort of "formal filler". Maybe something like "whereat"? Anyway, a verbatim translation would be "it became comprehensible by the court". In other words, the way I read it, no one notified the court that the witness did not speak Greek and they understood it because, well, she didn't speak Greek | | | 24 March 2008 16:07 | | | irini, what change did you make? | | | 25 March 2008 19:02 | | | in the translation of "Îγινε αντιληπτό από το δικαστήÏιο" | | | 25 March 2008 20:40 | | | OK - thanks for your help, irini.
Tantine, you can put this to a vote now if you want to. CC: Tantine | | | 25 March 2008 22:07 | | | Hi Kafetzou Hi Irini

kafetzou | | | 26 March 2008 11:11 | | | Το ''δε'' στο συγκεκÏιμÎνο νομικό κείμενο -όπως και τις πεÏισσότεÏες φοÏÎÏ‚- Îχει την Îννοια του επιπλÎον/επίσης. Δηλαδή σαν μετάφÏαση θα ήταν καλÏτεÏα το: ''the court ALSO became aware of''...
EDIT
Όσο το κοιτάω ακÏιβή μετάφÏαση δεν θα αντιστοιχοÏσε στα αγγλικά. Είναι από τους συνδÎσμους που αλλάζουν ιδιότητα και άÏα Îννοια(Ï€.χ κιόλας,σαν αποτÎλεσμα, από την άλλη μεÏιά...κτλ). Όπως και να Îχει το νόημα είναι της μετάφÏασης είναι σωστό οπότε no prob! | | | 26 March 2008 00:02 | | | irini, do you agree with this? | | | 26 March 2008 10:53 | | | Είναι συμπλεκτικός σÏνδεσμος, όπως το και, και Ï€Ïοσδίδει Îμφαση. ΧÏησιμοποιείται στα Ï€Ïακτικά δικαστηÏίων. | | | 26 March 2008 16:52 | | | Ladies, the question at this point is only whether the translation is correct. Since Tantine is the one evaluating it, and she can't read Greek, could you tell her your opinions in English please? | | | 5 April 2008 00:29 | | | Hi Kafetzou
In the absence of any reply from your "detractors", I am ignoring their objections and will now validate your text
