| I got up at 8.00 a.m this morning. | TranslationEnglish Translated by furkann | Target language: English
I got up at 8.00 a.m this morning. After washing my hands and my face, I had my breakfast. I put on my clothes and I got ready for going to school. Today school was very tiring. After school, I had my meal firstly. After some rest, I studied and I watched TV in the afternoon. After having my dinner, I searched for some subjects on the net and I chatted on the MSN messenger. The tiring day is ending at about 00.00 when I'm going to sleep. |

I made some corrections and set a poll.
Please check if any of the corrections is not in agreement to the original text, OK?
Before edition:
I got up at 8.00 a.m this morning. After washing my hands and my face, I had my breakfast. I worn my clothes and I was ready for going school. Today the school was too tiring. After school, I had my meal firstly. After some resting, I studied and I watched TV in the afternoon. After having my dinner, I searched some subjects on the net and I chated on the MSN messenger. I ended the tiring day with a sleep at about 00:00. | | | 16 April 2008 07:41 | | | Hello furkann & lilian,
"ilk iÅŸim...oldu" means "my first job was...". So furkann explained this meaning as "firstly". Maybe can be translated as "at the setout".
And..about "akşam üzeri" means "toward evening" or "in the evening" | | | 16 April 2008 08:40 | | | Thanx lilian,
I changed the translation according to your suggestions. I think it is OK. | | | 16 April 2008 11:32 | | | merhaba furkann
this text is a good translation, it has some minor defects though
worn can not be used here, it indicates the period of time you had the clothes on
'put on' is correct,
'very' instead of 'too'
firstly could be 'first thing i did after'
searched on some subjects/topics
'chatted'
a sleep ?
| | | 16 April 2008 14:36 | | | furkann,
The person is writing about what he did on that day, which isn't over yet, so I think we should adapt the last sentence.
"I ended the tiring day going to sleep at about 00:00".
It could be:
"The tiring day is ending at about 00.00 when I'm going to sleep" or something like that.
What do you think? | | | 16 April 2008 18:11 | | | Kfeto,
I wrote "put on" firstly. But Lilian Canale wanted to change it into "worn".
I'm changing again,
Thanks. | | | 16 April 2008 18:47 | | | Hi everyone,
"I ended the tiring day with a sleep at about 00:00."
sorry but what's wrong with this sentence? I think it is ok. | | | 16 April 2008 18:58 | | | Hi furkann, I don't know what's going on with your messages.
It seems to me that you are a little confused
In my first message I said that I had made some editions and posted your first version.
That version (using worn) was yours. What happened was that I posted the message announcing the edition and somehow the edition didn't enter. After kfeto's remark I realized about that and made it.
I'm sorry for the mess, but it's nobody's fault. | | | 16 April 2008 19:49 | | | hi silkworm
there's nothing wrong with that last sentence, using 'sleep' as a noun is just not very common, sounds somewhat awkward in english, that's all; the 'a' makes it undefined, which is a weird way to refer to the sleep which everyone enjoys everynight | | | 17 April 2008 09:23 | | | Hi Lilian,
You're right. I was confused because there was a mess.
Anyhow, in the end everything was solved.
Thanks for your sympathy |
