O fim do dia É árdua espera Pela esfera velar e...
Text
Submitted by casper tavernello
Source language: Portuguese brazilian

O fim do dia/É árdua espera/Pela esfera velar e pálida

Remarks about the translation
Lyrics/poem for my prog-rock band

ceia: substantivo
fanfarrões: pode ser traduzido como "jokers" também

Title
The end of the day
Translation
English

Translated by lilian canale
Target language: English

The end of the day/is a hard wait/for the veiled and pale sphere
The air gets cold /on warm skin/ supper behind the bars of water
Where kings meet
the braggarts have more fun
the end of the night/ eternal, greets/ the human misery of a new beginning
Sometimes giants/ struggle/ and nobody knows what is small anymore

Thanks Rita_ruas, but I think that Lilian's is more correct.

Hey, Casper, I couldn't imagine you belonged to a prog-rock band...I'd be glad to translate your lyrics.Love rock (of any style).

All the poems I request are lyrics.
I won't sing them in other language, but it's always a good thing to have them translated, especially into english (and made by a native).

Como a gente diz, é uma banda de rock/folk/blues/prog/baião/improviso-na-viola-songs-de-calçada

This looks really good, Lilian, but what are "boasters"?

OK; I changed "boasters" to "braggarts", as I think that's the more universally understood term, and "get more fun" to "have more fun". I'll put it to a vote now.

I think it is a good translation, but:
-Cálida pele=warm skin
-I think in "O fim da noite/Saúda, eterno", "eterno" is used as an adjectif of "o fim..." and not as an adverb of "saúda". The idea is "The end of the night, which is eternal, greets".

Is it OK now, guilon?

Sorry, but this "fanfarrões" is a word my friends use to denote "jokers", not "boasters" or "braggarts".

And you just posted in Catalan, you must be one heck of a "fanfarrão".

Because it's a poem I made about me and them.

Casper:

I think that jokers (as you can see on the note under my text) is nice.
