LOL! Ok this is one of my favourite sports club chant (?) although I actually root for PAO's arch enemy Olympiakos

BUT this text might be considered a bit.. controversial by some although it is heard in any game of a PAO team : football (soccer for you guys across the pond), volleyball, basketball you name it. The reason is that it refers to drugs in a .... rather positive way. What do you think?

In youtube (and I suspect other such sites) just search for horto magiko and listen

It's not controversial in English to talk about "magic weed" - I'm sure that's where the expression comes from.

Oh magic weed is fine! I'm actually talking about
"Πανάθα μου σε αγαπώ,σε αγαπώ, σαν ηρωίνη σαν σκληρό ναρκωτικό,σαν το χασίς το lsd,για σένα ΠΑΟ μαστουρώνει ολη η γη,όλη η γη! "

Panatha (the name of the team in a colloquial form) I love you (twice) (you are) like heroin like a hard drug, like hashish, LSD, for you PAO all the earth (world) is getting stoned.

Hmm. I can see why that might be considered controversial: "My Panatha, I love you, I love you, like heroin like a hard drug, like the high of LSD, for you PAO, the whole world gets high, the whole world!"

But for us, it's just a translation, right?

I'm just asking since I'm not really sure about the site's policy By the way it's not "high of LSD", it's hashish/hash and then, unconnected, LSD (we can put an extra "like" before LSD if you think it'll make the meaning clearer: like hashish like LSD. For the rest I prefer your version SO much better (obviously)

By the way do you think I should explain (or whoever does the translation) what PAO and Panatha means in the notes?

Hi irini

Ah - of course it's hashish - I misread the word. As for putting it in the notes, let's hope that the translator reads these notes. Anyway, I don't think there are any Greek to Portuguese translators, so we may need a bridge translation, but you may have to do it yourself, since I'm out of town and will only have sporadic internet access.

OK here's the English translation

"It's a magic weed, give me some to drink, to dream of my PAO and shout all the way to God! My Panatha I love you, I love you, like heroin like a hard drug, like hashis, LSD, for you PAO, the whole world gets high, the whole world! My Panatha I love you, I love you wherever you play, I'm going to follow you! I follow you, PAO here, PAO there, PAO there, wherever you play we will always be together, always together!"

Notes: PAO is the initials of Panathinaikos FC (official site http://www.pao.gr/index.php?category_id=3)
Panatha is a way of calling the team to show it's great. The opposite of a diminutive if you wish.
Where it says " PAO here, PAO there" it's actually a sort of pun, a double intender.
(ΠΑΟ) as I've already said is the initials of the team;
ΠΑΩ on the other hand means "I go"

Hope I covered everything. Sorry I'm not requesting a translation which I'll do afterwards but it's getting really tiresome
