Why not "can we take a photo?"

Because if I say it "Can we take a photo" then it can also mean out of context that can we take a photo of something. As it is clear here that he wants to have a photo with the person. I find it appropriate to translate like that. What is more, "Can we have a photo?" is neither grammatically wrong nor it is wrong in meaning. Thus, I find your comment unnecessary. Thanks

Well...if what the speaker means is that s/he wants to be in a photo together with the other person, I think merdogan's suggestion is fine and makes the line clearer.
Or perhaps: "Let's take a photo of us"

Saying "Can we have a photo?" may be understood as if some people are asking for a photo of another person (a famous person maybe) See what I mean?

"take a photo" is absolutely the correct version of this translation.

I think this is not a business matter or a very critical subject that requires this debate. I was an eramus student and I had photos with many people and I never had a problem about it. We are making translations here out of charge to be able to help people. By criticising every word that comes out of my mind you surely disencouraged me greatly. I will not make any more translations. You can make them as you see fit. I asked Mr. Murphy the British teacher of mine and he said my sentence was abosuletly correct and what you are saying are all alternatives. so instead of being that much critic, I would wanna hear alternavies in a supporting tone. I believe I could make myself clear. How you say things is of crucial importance. I would have no objection if Merdogan for example made his second comment first. Can we have a photo together could be better my friend is a slightly different sentence then Why not can we take a photo?. What is more I seemed to forget translating one sentence in one of my previous translations and the comment was where is.....?? Instead of this You seem to forget ...... would be good. Everybody can make mistakes none of us is perfect but how you correct them makes the huge difference out there. I believe I could make myself clear. Your manners are very important here.

Hi Raistlin,
I suppose your last message was addressed to me, therefore I'm going to answer it.
I see you are a newby on Cucumis and that's why you are not still completely aware of how the site works.
We are a community of volunteers trying to help out people communicate. Although our service is free, we try to give those who ask us for help the best possible result on their requests. The translations they get must sound as if a native speaker of the target language had done them. The role of an expert is making sure that the final text will not sound weird or fake to the ears of a native. When there's more than one alternative for a text, a line or even a single word, we will discuss until we reach an agreement on the best choice. That's an usual procedure here, and what the polls are intended to.
Any suggestions given are taken into account. Sometimes the translator or the expert may accept them, others not.
We can't consider them as just criticism and must not be "offended" or "discouraged" by them.
On the contrary, being right or wrong, they always teach us something. Nobody is absolutely right all the time, not even experts, specially when we are dealing with a number of so different languages, each of them holding varied nuances of vocabulary and interpretation.
You may become a valuable member as long as you are able to accept that other people may help you do a better work now and then.
I'm sure that when you are asked to help evaluating other people's translations, you give (or will) suggestions with the same intention of helping not criticizing.
