Source language: Portuguese brazilian

que sera que sera
que da dentro da gente que nao devia
que desacata a gente que é revelia
que é como uma aguardente que nao sacia
que é feito estar doente de uma folia
que nem dez mandamentos vao conciliar
nem todos os unguentos vao aliviar
nem todos os quebrantos toda alquimia
e uma aflicao medonha me faz sufocar
o que nao tem vergonha nem nunca tera
o que nao tem governo nem nunca tera
o que nao tem juizo

Title
What is that, what is that, that happens inside ourselves
Translation
English

Translated by lilian canale
Target language: English

What is that, what is that,
that happens inside ourselves, but shouldn't
that challenges us, that is a default
that is like firewater which doesn't satiate
that is like being sick of a frolic
that not even the ten commandments will conciliate
not any ointment will relieve
not all weaknesses , all alchemy
and a dreadful affliction make me suffocate
what has no shame and will never have
what has no control and will never have
what has no good sense.

Hi,

There is a confusion of the words "that" and "what" here, when converting this to English. I think you should take a closer look. You are certainly capable of it.

Best,

David

Hi David.

No, there isn't any confusion.
Let me explain...
If you look at the sentences, you will realize that those which were translated with that start with que in Portuguese, and those translated with what, start with o que.
Let me show you a simple example so that you can understand the use of it.

Did you understand what I've said?
Did you understand the explanation that I gave you?

In Portuguese...

Entendeu o que eu disse?
Entendeu a explicação que te dei?

I hope you did!

PS: Remember we are working with lyrics here, they sometimes may look weird. , But I can asure you that it's correct.
