Troubles about the ice rink

Kalba, į kurią verčiama: Anglų

The problems with the ice rink which will be operated by our company continue. Despite all our preparations for the ice rink to be opened on 12.15.2010, it couldn't be delivered to us in a ready state. One of our seven employees started working on 11.02.2010 and the others on 12.15.2010. All the catering, accommodation and travel expenses are reimbursed by our company. Yet, our company's grievance is growing day by day because the ice rink has not been put in working order. As we stressed in our report, dated 11.29.2010, our concerns, which are about the ice not being formed due to technical deficiencies and mistakes, continue. In our opinion, the plumbing system of the ice rink is faulty. Even if part of the ice could be formed, it is obvious that there might be melting and softening caused by hot weather and skating. Besides, despite our repeated and explicit requests, the skates that were bought were not Risport and Roxa (made in Italy). The imported skates made in China are not suitable to be rented out and furthermore have only been bought in a quantity of 75. On top of all this, no music system and electrical appliances have been fitted in the facility.
Briefly, it won't be possible for the ice rink to function unless the problems -listed above- are solved. This case, in terms of potential number of people who were coming to shopping center on the very first days, is a big loss when considered for both sides. We request immediate action for the problems to be solved.
Best regards..

Hello mucizetürk

I don't speak Turkish; one of my tasks here is to make sure the English is correct. Once that is the case, I will set a poll to make sure the meaning is ok.

Your translation sounds mostly fine, but in places not very natural. Here are some suggestions. If you agree, could you edit your translation please? If you don't agree, please let me know why not. Thanks!

The problems with the ice rink which will be constructed by our company* continue. Despite all our preparations for the ice rink to be opened on 12.15.2010, it couldn't be delivered to us completely. One of our seven employees started working on 11.02.2010 and the others on 12.15.2010. All the catering, accomodation and travel expenses are reimbursed by our company*. Yet, our company's grievance is growing day by day. As we stressed in our report, dated 11.29.2010, our concerns, which are about the ice not being formed due to technical deficiencies and mistakes, continue. In our opinion, the plumbing system of the ice rink is faulty. Even if part of the ice could be formed, it is obvious that there might be fusions** and softening caused by hot weather and skating. Besides, despite our repeated and explicit requests, the skates that were bought were not Risport and Roxa (made in Italy). The imported skates made in China are not suitable to be rented out and furthermore have only been bought in a quantity of 75. On top of all this, no music system and electrical aplliances have been fitted in the facility.

This case, in terms of potential number of people who were coming to shopping center on the very first days, is a big loss when considered for both sides. In English, this last sentence is usually a separate sentence and starts after a full stop, not a comma, even if in Turkish it can be preceded by a comma

*'our company' sounds like it is the company this person works for (or owns). Is that the case, or is this a company that they are paying to do this? (That makes more sense in this context). In that case, I think 'contractor' would be a better translation.

**I am not an ice rink expert, but I can't think of the meaning of the word 'fusion' here. Can you explain what is meant?

Hi Lein;
I couldn't answer because I was very busy. Your corrections on my translation sound mostly fine, acceptable and much more better. But in my opinion, the word "company" is much more suitable than "contractor". Secondly, "fusion" as you think was not the correct word. I had used it in terms of melting. The correction over that word must be "melting". Sincereley..

OK, thanks!

I'll leave 'our company'. If this is not the company the author of the text works for, but a company they pay to do the work, we may have to think of another way of saying this though. The same goes for 'employer': if this is not someone working for the author or his own company, but an external person working on site, 'our employees' is the wrong way to put this...

Let's see what other people say about the translation! I'll edit and set a poll

the music system hasn't been installed and electrical installation hasn’t been on the floor.

Hi Lein,

It is a good translation. You certainly overhauled it Just a few things to add:

The first sentence:

-The problems with the ice rink which will be constructed by our company continue. => The problems with the ice rink which will be operated by our company.

I think the translator got confused with the words "iÅŸletmek" and "inÅŸa etmek".

The second sentence:

-It couldn't be delivered to us completely => it couldn't be delivered to us as being ready

I know it is not a good sentence and there's not a big difference with the first sentence but I wanted to write it anyway. I mean when the ice rink was delivered, it was not ready.

The 3rd line, the second sentence:

-Yet, our company's grievance is growing day by day. => Yet, our company's grievence is growing day by day because of the ice rink which has not been put in working order.

or word by word:

- Yet our company's grievance is growing every day that the ice rink isn't put in working order/doesn't function.

That's all I see. Hope they're helpful.
