It enjoys a pleasant view of Coin de Mire, an island a few miles north of the main island. The place might have been named in this way by the French colonists after the invasion of the English, who disembarked there to take over the island in 1810.

Just one detail, about use of the conditional in the original version : Using the conditional form ("le lieu aurait Ã©tÃ© nommÃ©" here rather than any other past tense, means there is no official origin to the name, "serait" here is willing to mean "supposedly was...". As you can see if you check the English version of the Wiki this story is not mentioned, although this is probably true, why would such an adjective ( "malheureux" )been used otherwise? This was just a remark about the tense used in the French version, not a suggestion of improvement.
