It is more common preceded to "Maria", so you have Maria Pia

1950-1960 Pia was a common used name here, but not today or should I say

You know Xini, everybody thinks their own language is one of the most difficult in the world. All foreigners say that Spanish is a very easy language to learn, and all Spanish speakers say that our language is a very difficult one.

Well, dear Ghiglione (this is how your nick would sound in Italian, not Guilone), I think Spanish is very difficult One of my rejected translations was in Spanish.

But, some people in italy say that in order to speak Spanish you just have to add a -s at the end of the words....

Well, I think that Swedish is easy because you have just a form for present verbs, and no declensions, but maybe as I go deep into this language, that some very difficult things will appear...

This is so relative, don't you think?
To learn spanish I only had to know some different words and some differences with verb forms... but compared to portuguese still is almost the same language! Although I'm not very good at it.
But this may be only my opinion... I don't know.

I dare say every language has its own tricks for foreign learners, and out of pride, we like the idea of being able to speak fluently a language that would be madly difficult for foreigners, but who's to say how hard to learn a language is? Natives or Foreigners who have learnt it as an adult? And when is a learner really qualified to make an accurate judgement about this topic? I've got a theory, the easier someone says a language is, the worse he speaks it. No offence thatha, I don't mean you.

About Spanish, thatha, I acknowledge you are very talented when translating into this language, and Spanish and Portuguese are very close to one another but it's not that simple. Spanish has always been a very baroque language and we like to make the sentences complex and tend to use all the conjugated forms of verbs in our demotic speech while other languages tend to supress tenses when too formal. In addition to that, our syntax is very capricious, often a fairly correct sentence sounds awkard or unnatural.

And by the way, Xini, I like "Ghiglione", it sounds more like Italian, but it also sounds like "co......"

It's relative.
For example, for indo-european languages speakers it's really dificult to learn finno-ugric languages, as grammatics are quite different.
