A language I would really like to learn is Spanish, sounds so beautiful! | | 9 October 2007 11:53 | piasNumber of messages: 8114 | Hi lepurica,
you know what...I pretty much think i´m understand a lot danish, what they are saying...but talking OR writing...no,no,
I should´nt even try! I do think you are right...talking about pronounciation.
Faroese... sounds very, very far up north in my eares
Any snow yet? Here in sweden we have´nt , or should I say in my region, far up north they already has...
The weather "man" on tv said this morning that we will maybe have the first snow on Thursday, that´s pretty early I guess...
| | 9 October 2007 12:33 | | Pia, what's interesting about Faroe Islands is that we have very seldom and not for more than 1 week snow, in the winter. And often there are 5-8 C, even in February or January. One of the reasons I like Faroe Islands, considering last winter there were -26C back home, in Romania.
And it is not so quite up, is maybe a little bit northern than the middle of Sweeden (northern Sundsvall, just a little bit or the same latitude with Tampere, in Finland). 62 paralel if I am not wrong...
No snow, but we can see Northern Lights, by the way...

uuh...-26C...sounds no good. Tooo cold!!!
Northern light this time of year?
| | 9 October 2007 13:44 | | I have seen them two or three years ago in October, but than the solar activity was to the maximum. No, usually somewhere between the end of November and February.
It's quite annoying with the snow. One day begins to snow, everything is white and nice and next day, suddenly, temperature goes up till 10C and all the snow disappear. You can imagine what a disappointment for the children. I guess we can blame it on the Gulf Stream..... | | 9 October 2007 14:36 | piasNumber of messages: 8114 | You know what lepurica..actually I was thinking about another phenomenon -midnightsun when I asked you if you could see it this time of year ..guess my brain was´nt connected (he,he)
Thank you for the info. about Northern light. We do have it in Sweden, but I have never seen it.
It sounds (a bit) like weather in Sweden,
(mid.Sweden)You never know what the other day will look like...but we don´t have a Gulf Stream to blame it on and the temperatures do´nt seem to vary that much during a few days in winter.
Yes, I can imagine... the children being disappointed
| | 10 October 2007 07:14 | | Midnightsun we could see it till July. It was actually quite a pheomenon for me not to have night at all. I rememeber being 2 in the night one week end, we went out, in the town and it looked as it was a cloudy day, so light it was. And at 3:30 the sun rose....
As per changing weather... Well, here you can have sun, rain and snow within an hour. Luckily does not happen so often. | | 10 October 2007 12:34 | piasNumber of messages: 8114 | Hi lepurica
I just have to agree about the things you "talking" about. It´s wonderful when the sun seems to be awake round the clock in midsummer.
I like!!! As my occupation is baker my days start early in the morning, what a difference it is to keep awake in the summer compare to midwinter(uh..dark and boring) Anyway, I guess the sun needs her beauty-sleep to...she (or he?) can´t be around all the time...I guess that would be boring to.
Sun, rain and snow within an hour..hm, it sounds lika a joke
Have a nice day! |
